Early morning wake up call
A minor earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 3.8 rolled across Sonoma County early today, jolting awake many who live here but causing no immediate reports of damage.
The initial temblor struck at 3:27 a.m. and was centered about five miles northwest of Glen Ellen, the U.S. Geological Survey said.An after-shock of magnitude 2.6 struck at 6:49 a.m., the USGS said."We definitely felt it," but it did not appear to cause any problems, Glen Ellen Fire Capt. Dan Pierce said."No calls from it. Nothing," Pierce said. "I think all in all it was just a reminder that we live in earthquake country,"Sonoma County Sheriff's Lt. Scott Dunn said some concerned residents called to inquire about the quake but he was unaware of any damage."It was just kind of a nice rolling one," he said.More information is available on the USGS Web site at: http://www.pressdemocrat.com/rpquake2_redirect.cfmhttp://www.pressdemocrat.com/rpquake3_redirect.cfm

The epicenter was about 15 mi. from where I live. Enough of a shake to wake one up, but not enough to eject one from a warm bed on a very cold night. The second one hit after the clock radio came on but while I was still comatose..... so I heard it and felt it, still didn't move.

A little bull . .
A bunch of cows and bulls are standing in a field. A huge gust of wind comes along and all the cows fall over, but the bulls just stand there, bracing themselves against the gale. So all the cows stand up and brush themselves off and go back to their business. Pretty soon, a tornado blows through and all of the cows are knocked to the ground, but the bulls just munch on the grass. Next, a hurricane comes through and all the cows are knocked into the next pasture. The bulls just say "moo." Finally, one of the cows walks up to one of the bulls and says, "Moo? What's the mooing deal? How come the wind always knocks us for a loop and you just stand there unharmed ?" "Isn't it obvious?" the bull replies. "We bulls wobble, but we don't fall down."

New Speaker of the House
The Democrats have been in power before... and the Republicans will be again, but Nancy Pelosi being sworn in as the new Speaker of the House is an historic moment. Take a pause, enjoy the moment.

"Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) was elected America's first female speaker of the House yesterday in a raucous, bipartisan celebration of a historic breakthrough"
from the Washington Post

My hat's off to her. I think she will prove to be a good manager. Her every move and twitch is noticed, commented upon, judged, and critiqued. She'll make some good moves and some wrong moves, only time will tell the overall results.

Wednesday.... a pun...
Show me a blacksmith who is making hardware for a bathroom, and I'll show you a man who is forging a head.
